Pisa

After leaving Verona we continued on our way to Florence and stopped at Pisa where the famed Leaning Tower resides.   The first building you see is the Baptistry.  This is important because to enter the church you have to be baptized first so the Baptistry and Church are separate buildings.

The next building is the Duomo (or church) and then the famous Duomo's campanela or Bell Tower - The Leaning Tower of Pisa.  The bell tower was built by Bonanno Pisano in 1173.  Pisano had not even completed the first three tiers of the Bell Tower before it started to lean.  Today it is held in place by cables so that it does not fall.

Not the greatest picture of Jessica and I, but remember it was windy and we had been riding on a bus ALL DAY!
