Florence

After traveling and touring all day after leaving Rome, we arrived in Florence around 6:00 p.m.  It was a long day and we were all tired.  We stayed at the Sheraton Firenze, got checked in and freshened up for our first dinner in Florence.  The food was great, desert better and we were all hungry.  Everyone was also tired, so we all went up to our rooms and got some rest.

Jessica made friends with everyone as usual!

We got up early the next day, ate breakfast at the hotel and got ready for our tour of Florence.  It began as an overcast, rainy day but the sun came out later in the day.  The weather was still 70ish and very comfortable.  There is just so much to see, it is hard to take it all in.  This is the center of Florence.

Palazzo Vecchio is the town hall of Florence.  If anyone follows the Silence of the Lamb series, in "Hannibal" which was set in Florence, you may remember seeing this building.

Where original statue of David once stood before it was moved to the Accademia Gallery.  This is a copy of the original.

This was Jessica's and my favorite part - REAL ITALIAN PIZZA!  They serve it in big squares and it was so good!  Of course, this was before the Euro went into effect, our lunch was around $15 American dollars.  I can almost taste it now looking at this picture!
