Ward Family Vacations

Italy 2001

Farewell Dinner

Our week in Italy went by so fast, it was hard to believe we were spending our last evening in Italy.  After our last day in Venice we drove back to Rome and checked into the Albani Hotel for our last evening in Italy.  We got freshened up and ready to go for our Farewell Dinner.
Jessica and our waiter Gabrielle -- he was NO angel!
Gabrielle caught Jessica cutting her pasta with a knife.  He told her, "you have been in Italy for a week and you do not know you DO NOT cut pasta with a knife."  He proceeded to clean off her knife put it down and picked up her fork and showed her how you were supposed to eat pasta with a fork, Italian style!

Gabrielle was obviously the life of the party and continued to create mischief as the night progressed.

As is the custom in fine Italian restaurants, we had a soprano and live entertainment.

I cannot tell you where the week went, but it went by so fast.  While going to Italy in March is considered the wrong time of year as it is still not summer yet, the weather was absolutely beautiful the entire time we were there.  It was 70ish and breezy and if I had the chance to go to Italy again would go the same time of year as it is considered off season and the prices are much cheaper.

After dinner we were taken by bus and dropped off in Rome where we could walk our final evening in the city and go to the Trevi Fountain.  It is the largest fountain of Rome and has a legend that goes along with it.  The traditional legend is that you stand with your back to the fountain and throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, that you will return to Italy.  I threw my coin in so know I have to go back!
