Rotarua/Kuirau Park

 

Rotorua is located on a volcanic plateau which encompasses most of the Central North Island. Geological records show ceaseless geothermal activity in this area. The first thing you notice is the smell of sulfur. Rotorua is noted as a spa resort because of the natural hot springs.

The shopping is also great! We found several little stores and I stocked up on my paua jewelry.
